Paul Goodwill was a four-year letter winner in both football and track & field. He was one of the most dominant defensive lineman in the PAC during his career, earning All-PAC honors as Defensive or Co-Defensive Player of the Year his final three seasons with the Tomcats. Goodwill was a co-defensive captain during his senior year.
As a four-year starter on the defensive line, he helped the 1972 team win their second PAC championship. During his four years, he was often referred to as the “anchor” of the defensive line. He led the team with 74 tackles during his senior year. He was recognized nationally for his outstanding abilities on the gridiron, being named to the Pittsburgh Press All-District Team and All-Lutheran Team during his sophomore and junior campaigns. As a senior, he was named to the Associated Press Little All-American Second Team.
