Thiel College Athletics

John Wascak was a standout athlete at Thiel. His football and track careers were equally successful, lettering four times in football and three times in track.

As a defensive tackle, he received All-PAC and All-Lutheran honors in 1969 and 1970. He was co-captain his sophomore and junior years and captain his senior year.

Wascak was a three-time place finisher in the PAC. He won the PAC shot put event during his junior year. At the time of his induction, he held the Thiel College shot put record of 49’2”.
