Box Score 2 ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches to Nazareth, 3-0, and SUNY Potsdam, 3-2, on Saturday.
The Tomcats lost in straight sets to the Nazareth Golden Flyers 28-26, 25-21, 25-13.
Thiel was led by
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) who recorded five kills and two blocks.
Will Zimmerman (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded five kills and one dig.
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) recorded three kills, four digs and a service ace.
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) recorded four digs, while
Eli Olszowka (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) recorded a team-high 14 assists.
Nazareth was led by Owen Wickens who recorded a game-best 16 kills to go along with 5 digs. Jack Martin recorded eight digs, while Josh Weaver recorded 27 assists.
Thiel took the first two sets against SUNY Potsdam 25-14, 25-23, before SUNY Potsdam took the final three sets 25-18, 25-17, 15-20.
The Tomcats return home to play the Geneva Golden Tornadoes on Thursday. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
