7 earn CSC Academic All-District recognition

GREENVILLE, Pa. (June 9) -- Thiel College student-athletes Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler), Ezra Oesterling (Shelocta, Pa./West Shamokin), Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette), Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood), Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling), Emily Eutsey (Jones Mills, Pa./Mount Pleasant) and Jackson Gadsby (Sandy Lake, Pa./Lakeview) were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Ditrict At-Large team Tuesday afternoon. 

From Men's Volleyball, Proudfoot and Oesterling have both advanced to Academic All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be announced July 8.

Now a three-time Academic All-District pick, Proudfoot boasted a 3.92 GPA as he majored in history and secondary education. Proudfoot was also Thiel's representative at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet in May.

On the court, Proudfoot capped his historic career by leading the Tomcats to the most successful two-year run in program history with back-to-back PAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances while becoming the first player in program history to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honors. He also garnered AVCA All-Region II accolades, was named PAC Player of the Year and earned All-PAC First Team recognition for the second-consecutive season.

The Butler, Pa. native hit a program-record .452 this season, which ranked third in DIII and fourth nationally. Proudfoot is the Thiel career hitting percentage record holder at .408 and was the active NCAA career leader in hitting for the entirety of the 2026 campaign. He finished his career third in team history in blocks (271), second in solo blocks (86), sixth in kills (750) and eighth in kills per set (2.18).

Oesterling lands on the Academic All-District team for the first time in his Thiel career. A biology and secondary education major, Oesterling excelled in the classroom with a 3.86 GPA. 

Oesterling was named to the AVCA All-Region II team, All-PAC First Team and was the PAC Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He was second in the nation with a program-record 71 aces as he enters 2027 second in team history with 117 career aces. Oesterling led the PAC with 388 kills, the fourth-most in team history. He led the Cats and was sixth in the PAC in digs (188).

From Wrestling, Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) is a first-time CSC pick. Logging a 3.83 GPA, Potts was also named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.

Potts took third at 157 pounds in the PAC Championships in addition to taking eighth at the Region 4 Championships. Potts went 16-14 on the mat and 12-13 in tournament action as he had an eighth-place finish at BW's John Summa Invitational. He recorded six pins, four major decisions and five decisions on the year.

King, now a two-time CSC Academic All-District pick, excelled for the Tomcats in Wrestling and Men's Lacrosse. He notched a 3.75 GPA while majoring in biology.

On the mat, King claimed his second-straight PAC Championship, cruising to the crown at heavyweight. He took sixth at the Region 4 Championships as he recorded a 9-3 record with five pins. On the field, King was second on the team in goals (21) and points (24) as he grabbed 24 ground balls and caused eight turnovers.

A first-time Academic All-District pick, Narby posted a 3.68 GPA while majoring in health systems.

Narby started all 16 games for the Cats between the pipes. He became the Thiel all-time saves record holder against Pitt Bradford on Feb. 18 at 599 saves. He made 281 saves on the year, the second-most in team history, as he capped the seasons with 798 career saves, the second-most in PAC history. Narby was third on the team with 81 ground balls.

Eutsey, a health systems major, boasted a 3.88 GPA as she made the All-District team for the first time as a sophomore.

Eutsey earned medalist honors at the Bethany Invitational as she fired a 97 en route to the victory. She placed 12th at the Thiel Invitational in the fall while placing 21st at the PAC Championships.

Gadsby recorded a 3.59 GPA while majoring in business administration. He is a first-time Academic All-District honoree.

Gadsby made the All-PAC Second Team as he tied for ninth at the league championships with a four-round tally of 307 (+23) as he recorded round scores of 78, 72, 77 and 80. He had nine pars in the final round to go with two birdies in round three. He had a pair of top-20 finishes in the fall.
