GREENVILLE, Pa. (June 23) – Thiel College head men's volleyball coach Henry Gorton has announced two summer camp opportunities for boys high school athletes looking to sharpen their skills and experience collegiate-level training at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats will host a Skills Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 8, followed by a Volleyball Prospect Camp on Sunday, Aug. 9. Both camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be led by Gorton, assistant coach David Gonzalez '25 and members of the Thiel College men's volleyball team.
The Skills Clinic is open to boys entering grades 9-12 and is designed to develop the fundamentals of the game through skill instruction, volleyball-specific movement, physical cues and competitive 6-on-6 gameplay. Campers will receive hands-on coaching while improving their passing, serving, attacking, blocking and defensive techniques in a fun, high-energy environment.
The Prospect Camp is open to boys entering grades 11-12 who currently compete at the high school or club level and are interested in continuing their volleyball careers in college. The one-day camp features advanced drills, competitive six-on-six match play and skill evaluations, giving participants an opportunity to showcase their abilities while learning what it takes to compete at the collegiate level.
Registration for each camp is $65 for a single day or $110 for athletes attending both camps. Registration is open through Aug. 1.
Both camps will provide athletes with instruction from the coaching staff behind one of the nation's premier NCAA Division III programs. The Tomcats have captured back-to-back Presidents' Athletic Conference championships and earned consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances while establishing themselves among the top teams in the region.
