Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team traveled to Elmira, New York to compete in the Elmira College Invitational. The Tomcats won their first match against D'Youville College 3-2 before falling in straight sets to host Elmira College 3-0.

Thiel traded sets with D'Youville taking the first and third and dropping the second and fourth set to force a match deciding fifth set.

In the fifth, The Tomcats prevailed 15-12 to take the set and the match.

In the second match of the night, Elmira made quick work of Thiel as they fell 3-0. Elmira took the first set 25-20 before taking the second set 25-12. The Tomcats tried to mount a comeback in the third but fell 28-26 to drop the match 3-0.

Leaders for the Tomcats included Dan Zajac (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge) adding a team-high 12 kills and Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) collected 28 assists.

The Tomcats will be back in action on Saturday for day two of the Elmira College Invitational as they face Wells College at 11:00 a.m. and Keuka College at 1:00 p.m.
