GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 3) -- The Thiel College Baseball team dropped both halves of a twinbill with Chatham University Friday from Tomcat Park in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Tomcats dip to 5-17 (2-6) while the Cougars rise to 17-6 (3-5) with wins of 24-8 (7 Inn.) in game one and 12-3 in game two.
Calvin Cackowski (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) blasted his league-leading sixth home run of the season, a 2-run shot to left, in the first inning of game two. He finished 3-for-4 with 2 runs and RBIs each in the nightcap.
Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) posted three RBIs for the day, with two in game one and one in the finale.
Devin Gruver (Hermitage, Pa./West Middlesex) and
Cole Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City) each had a pair of RBIs in the opener.
Thiel is back in action Monday for a 2 p.m. non-conference clash at Penn State Behrend.
