GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 23) -- The Thiel College Baseball team collected its 11th straight American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced yesterday by the ABCA.

This award recognizes ABCA member teams from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year.

Thiel College Baseball players Colton Brightwell (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth) (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth), Kolten Kruszewski (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) and Cole Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City) (Karns City, Pa./Karns City) were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team Tuesday afternoon.

The Tomcats had four players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team in early June. Those honorees were Colton Brightwell (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth), Kolten Kruszewski (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) and Cole Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City),

Baseball led the pack for Thiel with 20 student-athletes named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, its most in a season since 2020 when 24 Tomcats made the list.
