Box Score PITTSBURGH – The Thiel College men's volleyball team won a non-conference match on the road Tuesday night over the Carlow Celtics, 3-2.
Thiel earned the win with a 15-7 victory in the fifth set. Thiel also won the first (25-19) and third (25-16) sets.
Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and
Tyler Hussey (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) led Thiel's attack with 10 kills apiece. Dies also tallied seven blocks.
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) recorded nine kills while
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin),
James Cromwell-Young (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) and
Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler) tallied six kills apiece.
Ethan Cooper (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) handed out 31 assists while also contributing 10 digs.
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) led the Tomcats with 14 digs.
Russ Cyprowski paced Carlow with a game-high 13 kills.
Thiel (9-9, 4-1 AMCC) will host the Hiram Terriers (4-6, 3-1 AMCC) Saturday at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match will begin at 1 p.m.
