Box Score HUNTINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team opened its 2015 season on a high note Friday with a 3-1 victory over Hunter College at the Juniata College Invitational.
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and Regan Hess (Burlington, Wis./Wetosha Central) both recorded double digit kills for the Tomcats. Turner had 16 kills in the match and added eight digs. Hess tallied 10 kills on 20 attempts. Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) and Alex Ciepiela (Marilla, N.Y./Iroquios Central) had nine and eight kills, respectively. Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had 15 digs while Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) handed out 43 assists.
Brandon Kohler had 10 kills for the Hawks.
The Tomcats (1-0) will be back in action Saturday when they continue play in the Juniata College Invitational. The Tomcats will take on Hilbert at 9 a.m. before facing Elmira at 5 p.m.
