Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Tomcats fell to the No. 2-seeded Lakeland College Muskies 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Championship Tournament Saturday morning at Thiel's Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Muskies won by set scores of 25-18, 27-29, 25-21 and 25-22.
Lakeland (21-7) entered the third-annual conference championship tournament as the number two seed out of the West Division and faced a Tomcat squad (13-18) that came in as the third seed out of the East.
Tyler Boyce finished with a game-high 17 kills on 29 attempts for Lakeland and Tim Robbins added 11 kills. Dayton Erickson distributed 46 assists and chipped in defensively with seven digs while Alec Redlich totaled a team-best 10 digs.
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) led Thiel with 12 kills and four digs.
In his final match as a Tomcat, Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) tallied his first double-double of the season, handing out 34 assists while registering ten digs. Hamilton finishes his four-year career with a school-record 2,922 career assists to go along with 451 career digs.
Eric Mallinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice), playing in his first match of the season, hit .500, as he tallied seven kills on 12 attempts and made just one error.
The CVC Championship concludes Sunday with the championship match at 1 p.m.
