The Saints held a 6-3 lead early in the first set before the Tomcats rattled off six straight points to open a 9-6 lead. Thiel was not threatened the rest of that set. The two sides were tied at 12-12 in the second set, with the Saints gaining a 15-13 edge with a kill by Ernsberger. The Tomcats again came back to tie the score in the third set, with a service ace by Whitelock knotting the score at 10-10. The two squads played evenly throughout the third, with Thiel finally putting the Saints away for good with a kill by Evan Proksell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area).
