Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. - The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost a 3-0 match to the #4-ranked Redmen of Carthage College in the night cap of the 2014 Carthage Tournament Saturday.
After taking the first set 25-17, the Redmen rode that momentum into the second set and dispatched of Thiel by the score of 25-20. The Tomcats played with determination throughout the third set, as they led by as many as three (13-10) and had a chance to win all the way to the end. But Carthage made some key plays in the final stages and was able to squeak away with the 25-19 victory in the deciding third set.
Senior
Andrew Pohlod (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) hit a team-best .563, finishing the contest with 10 kills on 16 attempts with just one error. The outside hitter from Gibsonia, Pa. added six digs while senior setter
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) led Thiel with a team-high 15 assists.
Pohlod and junior
Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) each had six digs to lead the Thiel defense.
Thiel will close out the 2014 Carthage Tournament tomorrow with matches against Ramapo Colllege (11 a.m.) and Baruch College (3 p.m.).Â
