Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball extended its win streak to four after closing out Saturday's tri-match with a 3-2 win over the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Thiel (8-6) dominated at the net, out-blocking the Lions 17-6 and hitting .193 as a team. Mount fell to 8-5 with the loss.
Three Tomcats earned team-highs. At the net, junior
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) finished with a team-best 10 kills while senior
Evan Proksell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) earned a match-high 6.5 blocks, his season-best total.
Fellow senior
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) ran the offense and earned a team-high 28 assists. He, along with junior
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes), were able to spread the ball around evenly to the attackers so all five starters had over 20 swings.
Defensively, junior
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) led the way with 14 digs, his third highest total this season.
Thiel returns to action Saturday, when they head to Poughkeepsie, New York to take on Vassar College and University of New York- New Paltz. The Tomcats close out their Big Apple weekend with a match against New York University on Sunday.
