Box Score HAMBURG, NY – The Thiel men's volleyball team swept the Hilbert Hawks 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) Sunday at Hilbert College.
The Tomcats (5-6) were led by
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs), who finished with 10 kills in the 3-0 sweep.
Evan Proksell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area), Thad Paunovich (Avonmore, Pa./Kiski Area) and Kyle Turkalj (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) each added six kills, while Paunovich added eight digs.
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) administered 19 assists in Thiel's victory, while fellow setter
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) chipped in 16 assists and a pair of service aces.
Defensively,
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) paced Thiel with a team-best 12 digs, while
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) added nine.
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) made his presence felt at the net, finishing his day with three and a half total blocks.
The Tomcats had a total of nine blocks to improve to 3-0 this season over the Hawks.
For the Hawks (3-12), Adam Weaver was the top performer, finishing with 14 kills.
Thiel returns to action on Friday, when they host Marymount University. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
