Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team suffered a five-set loss to Penn State Behrend Wednesday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The loss drops the Tomcats to 4-6 overall while the Lions improve to 6-2.
The game started off with the Tomcats cruising to a 25-13 win in set one. The Lions fired back by winning the second set, 25-19. Thiel responded with a 25-20 win in set three, but Penn State Behrend battled back to take set four, 25-20, forcing a fifth and decisive set. It was the Lions who emerged victorious, downing the Tomcats 15-13 to secure the non-conference win.

Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) and senior middle hitter
Kyle Turkalj (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) paced the Tomcats offensively with 15 kills each. Senior outside hitter
Andrew Pohlod (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) registered his second double-double of the season with a 10 kill-12 dig performance. Freshman setter
Zack Rombach (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) posted 29 assists and eight digs, while senior setter
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) added 26 assists and seven digs.
Defensively, junior defensive specialist
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) led the Tomcats with 18 digs.
Thiel returns to action on Sunday, February 16 when they travel to Hamburg, NY to take on Hilbert College. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
