PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team defeated Cairn University 3-1 to open its last Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) East Divisional weekend of the 2013 season. The Tomcats have just three matches remaining before the CVC Championships.
Two Tomcats finished in double-figure kills as Thiel improved to 19-9 overall.
Senior
Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) posted his fourth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) added 10 kills and seven digs while sophomore
John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and junior
Kyle Turkalj (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) put down nine and eight kills, respectively.
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) took over setting duties and finished with a match-high 34 assists. Tindall was also a force defensively, accounting for four and a half total blocks, including three solo blocks and seven digs. In the back row, sophomore
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) picked up a match-high 13 digs.
The Highlanders were led by Noah Prickett, who finished with a team-best nine kills.
Thiel returns to action this weekend to take on Stevenson and Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, April 6. Thiel is 1-1 against Stevenson and 3-0 against EMU.
