GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball squad (18-9; 4-2 CVC) dropped to the eighth-ranked Juniata College Eagles 3-0 on Wednesday evening in the Beeghly Gymnasium by set scores of 25-27, 24-26, and 19-25.
The Tomcats were paced by
Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa./Holy Name), who was honored before the game as the first Thiel men's volleyball senior in the program's three-year history. McCoy finished the match with 11 kills and five digs. Sophomore
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) tallied 11 kills with just three errors on 22 attempts while also registering four digs.
As a team, the Tomcats had five blocks, including a solo block by
Kyle Turkalj (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area).
Defensively,
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) led Thiel with nine digs and
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) piloted the offense with 28 assists and two digs.
The Eagle's Ross Madden finished with a game-high 14 kills to pace the Juniata attack.
Thiel will next travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to play in the CVC Weekend, hosted by Cairn University. The first match against Cairn is set to start on Saturday at 2 p.m.
