KENOSHA, Wisc. - The men's volleyball team opened the Wisconsin Invitational with a pair of losses to the host #3-ranked Carthage College and Medaille College on Saturday.
In the first match against Carthage, the Tomcats battled hard but lost the match in three sets (25-19, 25-21, 25-20).
Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) led the Tomcats with 11 kills and added six digs while teammate
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) added six kills and
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) and John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) each had three.
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) led the Tomcats in digs with 11 and
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) recorded a team-best 20 assists.
In the second match of the evening, the Tomcats fell to the Medaille Mavericks 1-3 (21-25, 19-25, 25-10, 25-27). McCoy finished with his third double-double of the season, posting 13 kills and 17 digs. Lasher and Whitelock had nine and eight kills respectively, while
Phillips tallied 13 digs for the Tomcats and
Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had seven. Tindall totaled 23 assists.
The Tomcats return to action on Sunday when they face the Milwaukee School of Engineering at 10 a.m. and Fontbonne University at 4 p.m.
