GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel men's volleyball team (6-4) swept the Hilbert Hawks 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-15) on Tuesday evening in Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats were led by
Andrew Pohlod (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and
Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley), who finished with seven and six kills each in the 3-0 sweep.
Alex Ciepiela (Marilla, N.Y./Iroquios Central) ended the match with five kills and two service aces while teammate
Kyle Turkalj (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) chipped in four kills.
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) got the start at setter, administering 27 assists in the Tomcat victory.
Defensively,
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) paced the Tomcats with six digs, while
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) added four digs. Whitelock made his presence felt at the net, finishing his night with two and a half total blocks.
Overall, the Tomcats had a total of 10 blocks; there third highest total this season.
For the Hawks (3-8), Adam Weaver was the top performer, finishing with nine kills.
Thiel returns to action on March 1
st, when they host the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
