BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) posted a season-high 20 kills to go along with seven digs in helping the Tomcat men's volleyball squad to a 3-0 sweep of D'Youville College Friday evening.
Thiel (9-5) earned set wins of 25-19, 26-24, and 25-23 on Friday and avenged a pair of three-set losses to the Spartans (4-8) during the Tomcats' inaugural 2011 season.
The win moves Thiel to within one of tying last season's 10-win total.
Also contributing to the Tomcat offensive attack was
Andrew Pohlod (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), who finished with six kills.
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) piloted the offense with 33 assists.
Leading the defensive effort was
Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), who finished with 12 digs.
Dylan Lasher (Ford City, Pa./Elderton) added nine digs while
Ian Phillips (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) chipped in with eight.
Thiel returns to action on Friday, February 24 at the Juniata College Tournament, opening with seventh-ranked Nazareth College at 6 p.m.
