Men's Volleyball Splits A Pair Of Games At Home Tri-Match

The Tomcat Men's Volleyball team split a pair of matches at home on Sunday, defeating Wells College 3-0 before falling to Siena Heights University 3-2.
 
In the first contest, the Tomcats defeated the Wells College Express in straight sets; 25-11, 25-11, 25-16 to earn their seventh victory of the season.
 
Charlie Tindall (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) led the way for the Tomcats offensively as he paced the team with 12 kills. Andrew Pohlod (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) also reached double figure kills with 11 and setter Tyler Kanelos (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) notched 34 assists in the victory. As a team, Thiel notched 13 aces, which is a high for the season.
 
In the second contest of the day, Thiel fell to the Saints of Siena Heights University three games to two (18-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-9, 9-15). Down two games to none heading into the third set, Thiel made the comeback by taking sets three and four before falling 15-9 in set five.
 
The Tomcats were paced by Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) who notched another double-double making 10 kills and adding 15 digs defensively. Freshmen Michael Whitelock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) (eight kills) and John Turner (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) (nine kills) also had solid performances for Thiel. Setter Cory Hamilton added 41 assists on the day and Colin Vitale (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) anchored the defense with 16 digs.
 
The Tomcats will continue their brief home stand on Tuesday, February 14 when they host the Lions of Penn State Behrend. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
