ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After dropping back-to-back games to ranked opponents on Friday, Thiel once again ran into stiff competition in day two of the Nazareth College Invitational, falling in straight sets in both of their contests on Saturday.
In the first contest of the day, the Tomcats fell 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 to the #8 ranked Medaille College. Sophomore outside hitter
Dante McCoy (Reading, Pa., Holy Name) led the offense with 10 kills on the day. As a team, the Tomcats recorded 10 total blocks for the game.
In game two of the day, the Tomcats once again fell in straight sets, this time to the #15 ranked SUNY New Paltz (25-19, 25-15, 25-21). McCoy once again led the team in kills with eight and freshman outside hitter
Grant Kocher (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) added six. Freshman setter
Corey Hamilton (Meadville, Pa., Maplewood) added 20 assists for the game.
For his efforts, McCoy was named to the all-tournament team. He finished the invitational with over 40 kills for the weekend.
Thiel, now 2-12 on the season, will next travel to Mount Saint Joseph's for a slate of four contests on February 19th and 20th. The first contest will be against the Milwaukee School Of Engineering at noon on the 19th.
