MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 1) -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams each scored at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships held Thursday and Friday from West Virginia University's Mylan Park.
The men scored 19.5 points to finish 11th while the women notched 9 points to tie for 10th.
For the women,
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) PRd in the discus at 37.65m to place fourth and earn 5 points. Carney was also 11th in the hammer throw with a PR of 36.33m, the fourth-best mark in team history.
Analeise Burns (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) finished fifth in the hammer throw with a PR of 39.51m to earn 4 points. Her throw was second-best in team history and broke her own Thiel freshman record.
On the men's side,
Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) had a strong showing as he finished fourth in both the 100m and 200m. He came in at 11.08s in the 100 and 22.06s in the 200, earning 5 points in both events.
Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) had a big PR in the 10K to finish sixth at 33:09.48. His run was the third best in team history and earned the Cats 3 points. Turner was also 17th in the 5000m.
Carter Alexandre (North Lauderdale, Fla./Stranahan) tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.86m, earning 4.5 points.
The 4x100m relay squad of
John Bresnan (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds),
Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard),
Khalil Holmes (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) and
Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) finished seventh at 44.46s to earn 2 points.
In throws,
Cadin Rex (Knox, Pa./Keystone) PRd in the shot put at 11.74 to come in 14th while
Elijah Butterly (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) was just ahead of him in 13th at 11.79m.
Jacob Fraley (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) PRd in the hammer throw at 34.38m to finish 11th while
Elijah Butterly (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center)t was 15th at 32.72m.
Joseph Vagnier (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) came in 19th at 26.75m.
Smith and Wear had PRs in the 400m at 52.52s and 52.55s, respectively.
Andrew Yocum (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) was 12th in the steeplechase at 11:36.22s.
Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) and Vagnier were each named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
