Men's Outdoor Track & Field Dante Parente

Track & Field opens outdoor slate at Cal U

CALIFORNIA, Pa. (March 21) -- Multiple different Thiel Tomcats etched their names into the programs record book Saturday as Outdoor Track & Field opened its spring slate at the California (Pa.) Early Bird Invitational from Adamson Stadium.

In the hammer throw, Jacob Fraley (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) and Joseph Vagnier (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) produced the second and third best hammer throws in program history, respectively. Fraley's throw came in at 31.56m while Vagnier's was 29.27m and a PR.

In distance, Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) PRd in the 10k and had the third-best run in Thiel history at 34:07.69 to place fourth. Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) PRd in the 5000m at 17:03.38 to place 11th.

The 4x400m team of Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger), Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard), Griffin Fraterriho and John Bresnan (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) placed third at 3:39.58. Wear also PRd in the 400m at 53.95 seconds. He has PRd in the 400 in all but one meet on the year, including the indoor season.

Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) continued his strong season as he placed fifth in the 400m at 51.59s to PR. His run was the eighth-best time in team history. Shaw's 22.93-second run in the 200 meter was seventh-best in team history as he finished eighth for the invitational.

For the Women, Analeise Burns (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) placed ninth in the hammer throw at 33.27m for the third-best throw in team history. She also PRd in the discus at 23.26m.

Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) logged the fourth-best hammer throw in program history at 33.19m to place 10th. She also PRd in the shot put (8.82m) to place 16th and the discus (30.37m) to place ninth.

Mae Struna (Williamsfield, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) had a solid day as she placed fourth in the shot put at 10.83m, the fifth-best mark in team history. She also logged the 10th-best hammer throw in school history at 23.83m to place 23rd.

Alannah Estvander () threw the ninth-best hammer throw in team history at 23.98m to place 22nd and PRd in the discus at 27.36m to place 15th. Ariel Carney's (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) hammer throw of 28.88m was sixth-best all time while her 27.07m throw in the discus was a PR.

Jasmine Carney (DuBois, Pa/DuBois) had PRs in the shot put (9.14m), discus (25.32m) and hammer throw (20.72m).

The Tomcats are back in action next Saturday at the Denison Lid-Lifter.
