BEREA, Ohio (April 18) -- The Thiel College Track and Field teams took part in the two-day Spark Adams Invite at Baldwin Wallace University Friday and Saturday.
The men placed 12th-of-17 teams while the women came in 18th.
On the women's side,
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) set a Thiel freshman record in the discus with a PR of 36.35m to place 9th-of-41 competitors. That mark is second-best in program history and is fifth-best in the conference this season. Carney also PRd in the shot put at 9.45m to place 24th.
Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) had a trio of PRs on the day, posting collegiate bests in the hammer throw (39.04m), discus (30.65m) and shot put (9.53m). Her mark in the hammer throw is fourth-best in the conference on the year.
Jasmine Carney (DuBois, Pa/DuBois) PRd in discus at 26.60m and the javelin at 22.47m to place 10th.
Analeise Burns (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) PRd in the discus at 26.51m and placed 18th in the hammer throw at 38.43m.
Mae Struna (Williamsfield, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) PRd in discus at 31.21m to place 17th while
Alannah Estvander () also PRd in the discus.
For the men,
Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) PRd in the 5k at 15:52.16 to place 21st.
Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) had a 20-second PR at 16:35.20s to place 29th. His mark is fifth-best in program history.
In sprints,
Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) was 6th in the 100m at 10.80 while
Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) logged another PR in the 400m at 53.28s.
In the high jump,
Carter Alexandre (North Lauderdale, Fla./Stranahan) and
Zack Loeser (Long Island, N.Y./Rocky Point) each placed seventh at 1.85m.
In discus,
Cadin Rex (Knox, Pa./Keystone) (34.03m),
Jacob Fraley (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) (33.12m),
Elijah Butterly (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) (28.98m) and
Dominic Lugo (Antioch, Cali./Deer Valley) (26.90m) all PRd.
The Tomcat are back in action April 30 and May 1 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships from Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.
