ERIE, Pa. (April 9) -- The Thiel College Baseball team dropped a non-conference clash with Penn State Behrend 18-2 Thursday evening from Behrend Stadium in non-conference action.
The Tomcats dip to 5-20 while the Lions rise to 17-6.
Thiel jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first as
Cole Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City) and
Ivan Rudiak (Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman) each produced run-scoring singles for the visitors. The home side answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the frame, 2 in the third and a pair of 5-spots in the fourth and sixth to spell the final.
Sherwin and Rudiak each finished with a hit and RBI while
Zach Smith (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) and
Mason Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City) also logged hits.
Kadin Dombkowski (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) recorded his first collegiate hit as well.
David Medich (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) worked two innings of scoreless relief for the Cats.
Thiel is back in action Saturday for a 1 p.m. conference twinbill at Franciscan.
