FORT PIERCE, Fla. (March 14) -- The Thiel College Baseball team fell 12-2 in eight innings to Washington College (Md.) in the spring break trip finale from Lawnwood Baseball Complex in Fort Pierce, Fla.
The Tomcats dip to 2-9 while the Shoremen rise to 8-7.
Max Bihler (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) paced the Thiel offense with a 3-for-3 showing as he tied his career high in hits and scored once.
Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South),
Calvin Cackowski (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) and
Andrew McRoberts (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) each had a hit, with Schimizzi logging one RBI.
Mason Suss (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) started for Thiel and worked four innings while striking out five. He took the loss, falling to 0-1.
Adam Manuel (Petrolia, Pa./Karns City) worked a career-most 3.2 innings with a trio of punchouts.
Thiel is back in action next Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Hiram to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
