GREENVILLE, Pa. (July 23) -- The Thiel College Baseball team collected its 10th straight American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, the ABCA announced Wednesday afternoon.
This award recognizes ABCA member teams from all levels of high school and collegiate baseball that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2024-25 academic year.
The Tomcats had five players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. Those honorees were
Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango),
Colton Brightwell (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth),
Alec Katon (Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood),
Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) and
Cole Sherwin (Karns City, Pa./Karns City).
Baseball placed 18 individuals on the Presidents' Athletic Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, its most in a season since 2020 when 24 Tomcats made the list.
The Tomcats qualified for the PAC Championship Tournament for the second straight season under 26th-year head coach
