GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field team took home multiple top five finishes at the Grove City College Mini Invitational Wednesday.  

Men's Events 

In the field events, freshman Adam Spaulding (Sharpsville, Pa./) took home the first-place finish in the high jump with 1.89m. Zack Loeser (Long Island, N.Y./Rocky Point) tied for third with 1.79m. 

In the long jump, Xavier Jenkins (Baltimore, Md./Wakefield) took home third place with 6.27m. Khalil Holmes (Bedford, Ohio/) placed 13th with 5.45m, Griffin Fraterrigo (Scotia, N.Y./) placed 14th with 5.25m, and Spaulding placed 15th with 5.07m.  

In the shot put, Cadin Rex (Shippenville, Pa./) placed eighth with 10.96m and Joseph Vagnier (New Kensington, Pa./) placed 12th with 9.83m.  

Nicholas Kobielus (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex Area) placed third in the javelin throw with 48.53m, right behind Grove City.  

Rex placed seventh in the discus throw with 29.70m, Noah Glunk (Ligonier, Pa./) placed ninth with 28.76m, Jacob Fraley (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) placed 10th with 27.53m and Vagnier placed 14th with 21.98m.  

Loeser and Spaulding both had top-10 finishes in the triple jump, Loeser in fifth with 11.94m and Spaulding in seventh with 10.86m.  

For running events, Thiel took home first place in the 4x400m relay with John Bresnan (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds), Fraterrigo, Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard), and Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/).  

Andrew Yocum (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) placed fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:07.09.  

In the 1500m run, Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) placed 11th with a time of 4:27.18 and 11th in the 5000m run with a time of 17:02.41.  

Bresnan ran a 11.71 in the 100m to take home eighth place.  

Smith ran a 54.22 in the 400m to take home ninth place, while Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) placed 17th with a time of 59.20.  

Riley placed 19th in the 800m run with a time of 2:19.46. 

Smith placed 13th in the 200m with a time of 24.78 and Fraterrigo placed 19th with a time of 26.22.  

Women's Events

Sha'nia Stiers-Royal (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) took home third place in the high jump with 1.48m and sixth place in the long jump with 4.88m. Alexis McFadden (Kennerdell, Pa./Franklin Area) also participated in the long jump and took home third place with 5.06m 

McFadden placed second in the triple jump with 10.29m.  

In the shot put, Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) placed 16th with 8.58m and Kaylee Bensink (Wattsburg, Pa./Seneca) placed 22nd with 7.76m. Wierzbowski finished in 18th in the discus throw with 25.14m and Bensink finished in 22nd with 18.11m 

In the 1500m run, Brooke Griffith (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) placed 18th with a time of 5:57.71. 

Lillianna Briscoe (Beaver Falls, Pa./Quigley Catholic) took home fourth place in the 400m with a time of 1:06.37 and finished in eighth place in the 800m with a time of 2:29.21.  

The Tomcats return to action on May 1 and 2 when they compete at the PAC Championships.
