Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team dropped a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games to the Saint Vincent Bearcats Saturday afternoon to close out the 2023 season.
The Tomcats dropped game one 8-6, before dropping game two 12-0.
Seniors
Michael Aches (Pittsburgh, Pa./Canevin),
Nick Guarnieri (Niles, Ohio/Mckinley),
Travis Harvey (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman),
Seth Johnson (Magnolia, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley),
Brandon Forrest and
Jonathan Koss were honored prior to the start of the first game.
In game one, the Tomcats took an early 3-1 lead, before the Bearcats tied it in the second inning. The Tomcats would tie the game at 5-5 in the fifth inning, before the Bearcats added three runs over the next two innings to take game one.
The Tomcats were led by
Colton Brightwell (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth) who went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and one walk.
Aidan Ochs (Rostraver Township, Pa./Belle Veron) went 2-for-5 while
Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two walks.
Travis Harvey (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) started his final game for the Tomcats. He went 3 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.
Ian Mills (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and
Nate Lucas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) pitched in relief.
Saint Vincent was led by L.J. Evans who went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a walk. Alex Hess also went 1-for-4.
Nate Davis started for the Bearcats, going four innings with three strikeouts. Jeremy Kreuzwieser earned the win, going 3 2/3 innings.
In game two, the Tomcats only garnered two hits. They were led by
Nathen Prunty (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) and
Nick Guarnieri (Niles, Ohio/Mckinley) who each recorded a hit.
The Bearcats were led by Jordan Sabol who went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Billy Perroz went 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
Alec Katon (Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood) started for the Tomcats, going 4 2/3 innings, striking out four.
Nathan Doutt (Edinboro, Pa./General McClane),
Dillon Belknap (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) and
Josh Daum (Tionesta, Pa./North Clarion) pitched in relief.
Michael Klingensmith started for the Bearcats, going six innings with two strikeouts.
The Tomcats finished the season 11-28 (5-15 PAC).
