BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday.
Thiel's women's team placed ninth and the men's team placed 10th.
For the women,
Tumba Powell (Cleveland, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) had the top finish, placing second in the high jump with a height of 1.45 meters. She also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash and 10th in the 100-meter dash with times of 28.40 seconds and 13.66 seconds, respectively.
Hannah Strott (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) placed sixth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:28.00 and ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.92.
Brooke Mottley (Rock Creek, Ohio/Geneva) notched a pair of top-seven rankings in throwing events. In the discus, Mottley placed fifth with a throw of 28.84 meters. She also placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 10.47 meters.
Sha'nia Stiers-Royal (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 4.50 meters.
For the men's team,
Peyton Ennis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) jumped 12.38 meters in the triple jump, good for second place. He also added a seventh-place ranking in the long jump at 5.94 meters. Also in the long jump,
Caleb Learn (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) ranked fourth with a leap of 6.05 meters.
In the javelin throw,
Nicholas Kobielus (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex Area) and
Evan Patriski (Cleveland, Ohio/Holy Name) placed third and eighth with throws of 43.10 meters and 34.28 meters, respectively.
Keith Rager (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) placed 10th in the discus throw with a distance of 35.33 meters.
Bodee Stonebraker (Mill Run, Pa./Connellsville Area) finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.85 seconds.
Isaac Evans (Youngwood, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) notched a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.07 seconds.
The Tomcats' next meet is scheduled for next Saturday at Oberlin College. Field events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. with track events starting at noon.
