Tomcats look to capture first PAC Title in 12 Years

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Thiel College baseball team is set to participate in the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament.

??The four-team, double-elimination tournament is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 7-9, in Crestview Hills, Ky. on the campus of first-seeded Thomas More College. ??

The Tomcats earned the third seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 28-12 overall record and a 17-7 record in the PAC.??

The Tomcats will open up the tournament Thursday against the second-seeded Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.

As a team, the Tomcats lead the conference and are 16th in the nation in hits with 445. Also, the Tomcats rank second in the conference and 18th in the nation in batting average with a .334 average as a team. Trent Smith (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) leads the Tomcats with a .408 average with four home runs and 36 runs batted in.

Matt Elko (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) leads the conference in strikeouts (77) with a 8-3 record and a 2.96 ERA. Jaden Nozicka (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) has a 7-1 record while Kevin Forrester (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) has a 5-1 record with a 1.61 ERA.
