Baseball Falls 7-1 To Thomas More

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Tomcat baseball team suffered a 7-1 setback at the hands of Thomas More College on Sunday afternoon in Greenville.

The Saints struck quickly in the bottom of the first inning with two quick runs off of starting pitcher Nick Rossmiller (Butler, Pa./Butler) to take a 2-0 lead. Thiel would then cut the lead in half as Billy Roosa (Salamanca, N.Y./Ellicottville) knocked in the Tomcats lone run of the game in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Eric Steininger (West Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) to make the score 2-1.

After Thomas More extended the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fifth on a home run by Andrew Thole, they then put the game out of reach with four runs in the top of the seventh inning to finish out the scoring at 7-1.

The Tomcats will begin their final three-game series of the season when they travel to Bethany College for one game on Friday May, 4. The nine-inning contest scheduled in Bethany, W. Va. Is slated for a 4 p.m. start time.
