GREENVILLE, Pa. – 10 members of the women's soccer squad scored in its 12-0 shutout victory over visiting Penn State Beaver Thursday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
The dozen goals mark the second most recorded in any single Tomcat women's soccer contest. The 2002 squad posted a 14-0 win over D'Youville College.
Schanvel Wall (Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown Christian) scored twice (31:10, 89:47) and assisted on another to lead the Tomcat women offensively.
Alison Skebo (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) also tallied a pair of scores (49:47, 61:08) in the win.
Thiel (2-2-0) finished with a 33-0 edge in total shots and 24-0 advantage in shots on goal. Kristen Sutton suffered the loss for the Beavers, allowing five goals in the first half of action. Constance Robinson relieved Sutton in the second period and surrendered seven goals.

Angela Balint (Sharpsville, Pa./Kennedy Catholic), registered their second-straight shutout as the Tomcats earned a 1-0 victory over Mount Aloysius College Tuesday night. Balint worked the first half and was spelled by Clair Fredriks in the seocnd.
Alison House (Youngstown, Ohio/Liberty) notched Thiel's first score of the day, converting an Alliana Hargove assist in the 12th minute. Goals by
Taryn Benner (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington ) (25:37),
Rebecca Quinet (Girard, Pa./Girard) (26:48), Wall, and
Mallory Bell (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) (35:04) gave the homestanding Tomcats a 5-0 advantage heading into the break.
Anne Mullhausen (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) got the scoring underway for Thiel in the second half, converting an
Alliana Hardgrove (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) assist in the 47th minute to put the Tomcats ahead 6-0. Skebo's goal in the 50th minute extended the lead to 7-0 and a Katherine Bretz score in the 59th minute pushed the lead to 8-0.
Skebo's second goal in the 61st minute, followed by a
Karen Wolfe (Troy, Pa./Troy Senior) score in the 69th minute, saw Thiel go up 10-0.
Rachel Piatek (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) scored off a Wall assist in the 84th minute to give Thiel an 11-0 lead before Wall concluded the scoring in the 90th minute.
The women's soccer squad returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Pitt-Greensburg (3 p.m.).
