MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Thiel College baseball team was defeated by a score of 2-0 in their last game of the weekend against the Pioneers of Marietta College.
Great pitching by both sides kept the game interesting as neither the starting pitcher for the Pioneers nor junior pitcher
Brad Bates (Kinsman, Ohio, Badger) gave up an earned run on the day.
Bates went seven strong innings giving up just four hits while striking out two.
Offensively junior second baseman
Weston Snyder (Cranesville, Pa., Northwestern) and junior third baseman
Bobby Hillier (Brook Park, Ohio, Midpark) accounted for all of the Tomcats' four hits as they earned two hits apiece.
Thiel's (7-4) next game will be on Tuesday the 22nd as they will make their home debut against the Terriers of Hiram College in a game rescheduled from last week.
