Fort Myers, Fla. – The Thiel College baseball team saw a five game winning streak end as they fell to Mounmouth College by a score of 12-2 on Friday in Fort Myers.
Defense was the down fall for Thiel as they gave up six unearned runs on seven errors on the day.
Thiel also ran into excellent pitching as the Monmouth pitching staff gave up just one hit before the ninth inning and struck out 11.
Thiel's only runs would come in the top of the ninth inning as freshman outfielder
Josh Gore (Campbell, Ohio, Campbell) tripled to left center which scored two players. Before that, Fighting Scott pitching had set down 12 straight Tomcats.
The loss dropped Thiel to 5-2 on the trip and will wrap up play at the Gene Cusic classic on Saturday at 9 a.m.
