GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 28, 2010) – Grove City scored three runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to erase a one-run deficit and defeat Thiel College, 6-3, in baseball action at Tomcat Park on Wednesday.
With the win, the Wolverines – who improved to 15-14 – swept the season series from the Tomcats. Entering the season's final six games, Thiel's record stands at 12-22.
Six Wolverines notched two-hit games as starting pitcher Michael Herringshaw upped his record to 8-2 on the season.
Despite knocking out 11 hits, the Thiel offense couldn't put runs on the board over the last four innings.
Weston Snyder (Cranesville, Pa./Northwestern) and
Ryan Dixon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) each put together 3-for-4 days at the plate, while
Brock Porter (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) registered two hits, two RBI and scored a run for Thiel.
Grove City drew first blood by scoring a run in the top of the fourth, but Thiel responded with a two spot in the bottom half of the inning.
The Wolverines went ahead for good the next half inning.
Thiel returns to action on Friday when they welcome Geneva for a 1 p.m. contest.
