GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College used a four-run sixth inning to rally past the Westminster Titans, 6-5, in Presidents' Athletic Conference baseball action Tuesday.
Second baseman
Matt Stumpf (McKees Rocks, Pa./Sto Rox) capped Thiel's big inning with a two-run homerun which also plated third baseman
Jake Thomas (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson), who reached base on a single.
Earlier in the frame, shortstop
Chad Ulogar (Willoughby, Ohio/South) hit a lead-off single then advanced to second on a base knock by centerfielder
Luke Johnson (Rochester, Pa./Rochester). Thomas' base hit drove in Ulogar and moved Johnson to third.
Johnson would score during Thomas' at bat on a wild pitch by Westminster reliever, Eric Francis.
Stumpf finished the game with one hit and four walks to go along with two runs scored and three RBIs. Johnson and leftfielder
Eric Boylan (McKees Rocks/Sto Rox) each had two hits for the 'Cats.
Thiel didn't put forth its best effort defensively (four errors), especially in comparison with the error-free, three-double play outing turned in by the Titan fielders.
Tomcat starter
Josh Tedesco (Campbell, Ohio/Ursuline) earned his sixth win of the season, with eight innings of work.
Thiel (15-5; 7-1 PAC) returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Bethany at 3 p.m.
