GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College's
Chris Dunham (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Linesville) delivered two homeruns, but it wasn't enough to lead the no. 20 Tomcats past Mount Union in a, 7-5, ballgame at Tomcat Park Friday afternoon.
Dunham's second and third blasts of the season came in the second and eighth innings with no one aboard. Thiel's senior designated hitter finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Thiel mustered only three hits through the contest's first four frames, but the Tomcat bats began to come alive with a two-run fifth which tied the game at, 3-3.
Down, 5-3, in the seventh, Tomcat leftfielder
Louie Parilla plated Thiel's fourth run of the game when third baseman
Jake Thomas (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) singled him in from second.
Mount Union's Craig Knott, Cory Slaybaugh, and Dan Henderson each homered to pace the Purple Raider offense.
Thiel (13-4) returns to action – and Presidents' Athletics Conference play – Saturday when they visit Westminster for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
