DELAWARE, Ohio (April 5) -- Thiel College sophomore
Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.) (Erie/Cathedral Prep.) posted wins in the 200-meter dash (22.22) and the 400-meter dash (49.44) and ran anchor on the winning 1,600-meter relay squad (3:19.85), helping the Tomcats to a second-place finish at Saturday's Marv Frye Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
Junior Dorran Coley (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) registered a winning time of 14.62 in the 110-meter high hurdles and provisionally qualified for the 2008 Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships May 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Coley also finished fifth in the 200 (22.90)
Sophomore Brendan Taylor (Girard, Pa./Girard) (Girard/Girard) had a solid showing all around the track, finishing second in the long jump (21-10), fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.29) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.31).
Members of the winning 4x400-meter relay were Eaton, Coley, senior Will Mills (Imperial/West Allegheny) (Imperial/West Allegheny) and junior Deighton Williams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College).
The 4x100-meter relay finished second with a time of 42.846, just 0.001 behind winner Ohio Wesleyan. Taylor, Mills, Coley and junior Elliot Wreh-Wilson (Erie/General McLane) (Erie/General McLane) ran for the Tomcats.
Thiel is set to return to action on Wednesday, April 9 at a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quad Meet which is to be hosted by Grove City College. Events are scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m.
