GREENVILLE, Pa. (Aug. 14) -- Thiel College Men's Basketball head coach Trey Austin announced the hiring of Trey Tippen as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season Friday morning.
Tippen joins the Tomcats for his first collegiate coaching position following a playing career at Central Baptist College in Arkansas.
"We are excited to welcome Trey to our men's basketball staff," Austin said. "His experience as a collegiate student-athlete and his passion for the game will be valuable additions to our program. We look forward to having him work with our student-athletes and continue to grow as a coach."
A native of Arkansas, Tippen played collegiately at Central Baptist, where he was a two-time academic all-conference selection. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology/exercise science from Central Baptist.
Prior to his collegiate career, Tippen was a standout at Sylvan Hills High School. He earned all-conference honors twice during his prep career and was also an all-state selection.
Tippen also competed on the AAU circuit with Arkansas All Red under head coach Cory Jones. The program featured several players who went on to compete at the highest levels of college basketball, including future NBA lottery pick Kel'el Ware.
Austin and Tippen both entire their first seasons as Thiel coaches in 2026-27. The Cats schedule will be released at a later date.
