Before Thiel

Penn State Fayette (2024-26)

Austin spent two seasons as head coach at Penn State Fayette, engineering one of the program's most successful turnarounds in recent history. He guided the Roaring Lions to their first postseason appearance and postseason victory in more than a decade while improving the team's record from 7-18 to 12-10.

His teams featured one of the PSUAC's top offenses, averaging 77.5 points per game while ranking third in the conference in assists per game. Under Austin, Penn State Fayette produced the PSUAC Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and six All-PSUAC selections.

Frostburg State (2021-24)

Prior to Penn State Fayette, Austin spent three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Frostburg State University. He helped the Bobcats qualify for the Mountain East Conference Championship Tournament during his final season with the program.

AAU & Player Development

Following his collegiate playing career, Austin founded an AAU program and player development business, training athletes ranging from youth prospects to professionals. His work included mentoring current NBA player Kel'el Ware while helping dozens of student-athletes earn opportunities at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.
