GREENVILLE, Pa. (June 15) – New Thiel College men's basketball head coach Trey Austin has announced the inaugural Thiel College Basketball Skills Camp, set for July 6-8 inside Beeghly Gymnasium.
The three-day camp is designed for boys and girls entering grades 3-8 looking to improve their basketball fundamentals in a fun, energetic and competitive environment. Campers will receive instruction from Coach Austin while developing their skills through drills, competitions and live game play.
Two camp sessions will be offered each day. The morning session runs from 9 a.m. to noon, while the afternoon session is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Campers will be grouped by age and skill level to ensure quality instruction and competition throughout the week.
Early bird registration is available through Thursday, June 26, for $175 per session. Registration from June 27 through July 2 is $199 per session, while late registration after July 2 is $225 per session. Families registering two or more campers are eligible for a multi-camper discount. Campers may also pre-purchase lunch for all three days for an additional $25 per session or bring their own lunch.
Space is limited and registration is now open. For more information or to register, visit the Thiel College Basketball Skills Camp registration page here or by clicking the blue box above. Coach Austin can be contacted at taustin@thiel.edu or (501) 944-5349.
"We're excited to welcome young athletes to campus and help them grow both as basketball players and as people," Austin said. "Our goal is to create a positive environment where campers can build confidence, improve their skills and develop a greater love for the game. We want every camper to leave better than when they arrived."
The camp will focus on all aspects of player development, including shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, defense, rebounding, finishing and basketball IQ. Campers will also compete in individual and team competitions while learning the importance of teamwork, communication and leadership.
Austin was named the 26th head coach in Thiel men's basketball history last week after a successful two-year stint at Penn State Fayette. Austin was also an assistant at DII Frostburg State for three seasons.
