Bethany Defeats Thiel in Conference Play

BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Thiel College women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-4 road contest at Bethany College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday morning.

Thiel falls to 0-8 overall (0-3 PAC), as the Bison pick up their second conference win of the season.

In the first minute of the contest, Thiel struck first with a goal from Aidrianna Green (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool). Bethany responded and set the tone early, building a close 3-1 lead after the first quarter.

Thiel kept it close throughout the second, only allowing two goals from Bethany, and one from their own Camille Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area).

After half, the Bison pulled ahead with five straight goals after Turner struck a minute into the third quarter.

The Blue and Gold defense held the Bison to one goal in the closing quarter but couldn't capitalize on the offensive end of the field to match Bethany's lead. Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) scored her first of the day in the final seconds of the game.

Turner led with five shots, two ground balls and two caused turnovers as Shayla Foster (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) and Makayla Flock (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) each grabbed three ground balls.

In goal, Edith Lithkousky (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage Central) had a career best 17 saves after facing 32 shots.

Thiel is back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 31 as they travel to Hiram, Ohio to take on the Terriers at 4 p.m.
