GREENVILLE, Pa. (Aug. 13) -- Thiel College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Marina Adelizzio announced the additions of former Tomcat standouts Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) '25 and Madison Liggett '25 to the women's lacrosse coaching staff.

Wightman returns to Greenville after concluding one of the most decorated playing careers in Division III history while Liggett, after serving as a volunteer assistant last season, has been elevated to full-time Assistant Coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ashlyn and Madison, two of the best players in program history, back to Thiel Women's Lacrosse," Adelizzio said. "As the top offensive player to come through our program, Ashlyn understands the standard of excellence we strive for and what it means to represent Thiel. Her experience, leadership and passion for the game will be instrumental as we continue to develop our student-athletes, strengthen our culture and lay the foundation for the future of our program. As a former standout goalie, Madison brings firsthand experience, a strong understanding of the position and a passion for the program. Madison's ability to teach the position, build confidence and invest in the development of our student-athletes will be a valuable part of our team as we continue to grow and move our program forward."

Wightman was a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American, earning Second Team honors in 2024 and Honorable Mention recognition in 2025. She was selected to the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game in 2025 and was named PAC Midfielder of the Year in each of her final two seasons.

A five-time All-PAC First Team selection, Wightman collected 12 PAC Midfielder of the Week awards, three PAC Newcomer of the Week honors and one PAC Offensive Player of the Week award during her career. She was also a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection.

Wightman holds Thiel career records in points (439), goals (387), points per game (6.27), goals per game (5.53) and draw controls (484), with each mark ranking among the top 22 in DIII history. Her 387 career goals rank third in DIII history, while her 5.53 goals per game rank fifth.

Wightman also produced a record-setting final season in 2025, establishing Thiel single-season records with 113 goals and 8.38 points per game, marks that rank tied for seventh and 11th, respectively, in DIII history. Her 7.06 goals per game in 2025 rank fifth in DIII history, while her 6.38 goals per game in 2023 are tied for 16th. She also holds the Thiel single-game record with 14 goals, tied for the second-most in DIII history.

Liggett enters her second season on the Thiel coaching staff in 2027 after a decorated playing career as one of the top goalkeepers in program history. In her first season on the coaching staff, Liggett mentored Edith Lithkousky (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage Central), who recorded 138 saves, the sixth-most in a season in program history. Lithkousky also set the Thiel single-game record with 13 ground balls.

As a player, Liggett was named PAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2025 after earning PAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2022. She was a two-time All-PAC First Team selection (2022, 2025), earned All-PAC Second Team honors in 2024 and was a six-time PAC Defensive Player of the Week.

She capped her playing career with a selection to the 2025 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game and earned CSC Academic All-District honors that season.

Liggett finished her career as Thiel's all-time leader in saves (527) and ranks second in program history in saves per game (9.94). Her career marks in ground balls per game (3.21) and ground balls (170) rank third and fourth, respectively, in program history, while her 43 caused turnovers are tied for ninth. Liggett also holds the Thiel single-season record with 182 saves and occupies three spots on the program's top-10 single-season saves list. Her 20 saves in a game rank second in team history, while her 11 ground balls are tied for second-most in a single game.

Wightman and Liggett were teammates throughout their careers at Thiel and helped the Tomcats reach the PAC Championship Tournament in each of their final two seasons. Their return gives Adelizzio's staff two recent graduates with extensive knowledge of the program and the PAC as the Tomcats prepare for the 2027 season.
