HIRAM, Ohio -- The Thiel College women's lacrosse team dropped a close 7-5 contest at Hiram College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday afternoon.
Thiel falls to 0-9 overall (0-4 PAC) as the Terriers pick up their first conference win of the 2026 season.
The Blue and Gold traveled to Hiram on Tuesday, Mar. 31 and played one half of lacrosse before getting suspended due to lightning. Thiel returned to Hiram today to finish out the rest of the contest.
Before the delay, senior
Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) started the game off hot, notching a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game.
After a quiet 10 minutes,
Aidrianna Green (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) scored the second goal for Thiel off of a fast break clear attempt, going coast to coast. Hiram responded two minutes later with their first score of the game to finish out the first quarter.
Freshman
Camille Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) netted a woman-up goal in the beginning of the second quarter to give Thiel the 3-1 advantage. The Terriers managed two goals before the half ended to tie the game at three a piece before the Tomcats were sent home due to weather.
As Thiel returned to Hiram, the Terriers scored the first two of the quarter before Turner notched her second of the contest to narrow the Hiram lead to one.
In the fourth, Hiram scored their final two before Wightman netted her second of the game in the final three seconds, but was ultimately not enough to get the win.
In net,
Edith Lithkousky (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage Central) made 10 saves off of 29 Hiram shots and picked up three ground balls.
The Tomcats are back in action tomorrow, Apr. 2 as they host Westminster College at 5 p.m.
