GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 4) -- The Thiel College Wrestling team took care of Waynesburg University 46-9 Wednesday evening in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) clash on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium on Senior Night.
The Tomcats rise to 4-1 overall and conclude their PAC slate of duals at 4-1 while the Yellow Jackets dip to 1-10 (0-5).
EJ McCarthy (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) got the Tomcats off to a strong start with a 14-1 major decision at 125 to put the Mat Cats ahead 4-0.
Leyton Zacherl (Stoneboro, Pa./Lakeview) got a win by forfeit at 133 to make it 10-0 Thiel.
McCarthy improves to 6-3 on the year and 4-1 in duals while Zacherl sits at 5-5 overall and 1-1 in duals.
Logan Ventura (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) logged a pin (2:46) over Brayden Barbao at 141 while
Jonathan Bissell (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) took down JT Hollyfield with another pin (5:42) at 149.
Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) completed the trio of pins with a first-period fall (0:39) over Kaleb McCamick at 157.
Landon Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) scored a win by forfeit at 165.
Ventura rises to 5-8 overall and 2-1 in duals with a pair of pins on the year. Bissell now sits at 17-5 and 4-1 in duals with a team-leading 11 pins. Potts is now 8-6 and 3-0 in duals.
Landon Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) rises to 2-2 in duals.
Waynesburg collected wins at at 174 and 184 before
Trenton Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) won by forfeit at 197 and
Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) took care of Alexander Paulsen at heavyweight with the Tomcats' fourth pin of the night in 55 seconds.
Trenton Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) improves to 2-3 in duals while King is 2-0 on the year with a pair of pins.

Hunter Crouse (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Charles F. Brush), McCarthy and
Landon Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) were honored on Senior Night for their respective contributions to the storied Thiel Wrestling program.
Thiel is back in action Friday at 5 p.m. for a non-conference matchup with Lycoming at home before taking part in Baldwin Wallace's John Summa Invitational Saturday.
