Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood),
Mequan Maxwell (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) and
Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) each posted top-8 finishes at the NCAA DIII Region 4 Champions from King-Horn Sports Center on the Campus of Ohio Northern University Saturday afternoon.
At heavyweight, King, the back-to-back PAC champion, placed sixth. He posted a pin (0:16) of Elijah Frizzell (Randolph) in his opening matchup along with a 12-5 decision over No. 3 Stevean Marra (Mount Union) to reach the second day. King dropped a 10-2 major decision to No. 2 Andrew Vanscoy (Baldwin Wallace) in the semifinals before medically forfeiting his final two duals.
King finishes the season at 9-3 with five pins.Â
At 149, Maxwell finished seventh. He opened day one with a pin (1:16) of Trent VandenEynden before being pinned in his second bout. Maxwell collected a 4-3 decision over Landon Neal (Averret) and a pin (0:43) of Jack DeBoe (Mount Union) to place seventh.
Maxwell, who competed across four different classes this season, ends the year 14-7 with seven pins.
Potts made a solid run at 165 to come in eighth. After dropping his first matchup, Potts collected a pin (2:32) over Nicholas Menjivar (Greensboro) and a 15-1 major decision against Carter Mottley (Otterbein) before dropping his final two contest to finish eighth.Â
Potts caps his season 16-14 with six pins.
EJ McCarthy (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) collected his final collegiate win on day one with a pin (2:24) of Andrew Lewis (William & Mary).Â
Jonathan Bissell (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville), the 157-pound PAC Champion, fell in his first bout with a late pin before logging a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. Bissell ultimately concluded his year with an 18-6 major decision loss to Caleb Hoffman (Baldwin Wallace).
Bissell capped his stellar freshman campaign at 27-7 with a team-best 19 pins.
The Tomcats ended the season with a 4-2 record as they placed second in the PAC under the leadership of 2026 PAC Coach of the Year
