Austin '25 tabbed as Women's Basketball assistant coach

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Aug. 8) -- Thiel College Head Women's Basketball Coach Jessica Vormelker '19 announced the hiring of Cameron Austin '25 as assistant coach Friday afternoon.

"Cameron will be a great addition to the Women's Basketball program," Vormelker said. "His love for the College, ability to connect with people and knowledge of the game will be a perfect fit for us. I am excited to work alongside him to continue moving our program forward."

Austin was a three-year starter at Bradford High School in Bradford, Pa. There, he served as team captain his junior and senior seasons.

"I couldn't be more excited to continue my journey on the staff at Thiel," Austin said. "It's a great honor to be chosen for this role, and I'm ready to give everything I have to support our players, both on and off the court."

Austin served as a Men's Volleyball manager last season before earning a spot on the active roster in the stretch run of the season. He was active on campus, serving in key posts with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) since his sophomore year.

Austin also helped train and teach basketball skills to youth children at Bradford YMCA.

Women's Basketball finished seventh in the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, which honors teams that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
